Mission

Our Mission

Roma Tre Orchestra is the first academic Orchestra established in Rome and in Lazio. It was founded in 2005, it aims at dedication, excellence and at spreading of great music especially among younger generations.

The Association organizes chamber music and symphonic concerts at the University, the Palladium Theater and other important city’s cultural sites, among which Torlonia’s Theatre, Denmark’s Academy, Civic Museums of Rome (such as Napoleonic Museum, Bilotti and others).

It has been working for years with world-class soloists such as Gianluca Cascioli, Maurizio Baglini, Roberto Prosseda, Enrico Bronzi, Carlo Guaitoli, Alessandra Ammara, Emanuele Arciuli, Ilia Kim, Gloria Campaner, Roman Rabinovich, Scipione Sangiovanni (piano), Silvia Chiesa (cello), Haik Kazazyan (violin), Shirley Brill (clarinet), the actor Claudio Amendola, the choreographer Bill T. Jones, the writer Alessandro Baricco, the opera singers Daniela Mazzucato and Veronika Dzhioeva, the pop singer Etta Scollo, the Oscar-winning composer Dario Marianelli (of which, Roma Tre Orchestra has recorded the soundtrack music for Marco Tullio Giordana’s film “Nome Di Donna” and Matteo Garrone’s “Pinocchio”) and the conductors Gunter Neuhold, Yoram David, Bruno Weinmeister, Donato Renzetti, Will Humburg, Cord Garben, Sir David Willcocks, Mikhail Kirchhoff, Alexander Sladkovsky, Sergey Smbatyan, Luciano Acocella, Francesco Lanzillotta, Marcello Bufalini, Gabriele Bonolis, Tonino Battista, Fabio Sperandio, Fabio Maestri and many others. From 2013 to 2017 the first cello of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Maestro Luigi Piovano, was musical director of the orchestra and before him, from 2006 to 2011, was Maestro Pietro Mianiti.

Roma Tre Orchestra has been working with important institutions such as Roma Capitale, the Theatre Association of Rome, the United States Embassy at the Quirinal and the Holy See, Caspur, International Church Music Festival, Academy of Denmark, Zètema, Laziodisu, CIDIM, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Embassy of Switzerland, Polish Cultural Institute, Conservatory of Santa Cecilia, Conservatory of Latina, Library of Rome, Goethe House and it was guest at several music festivals such as RomaEuropa Festival, Quirinal Concerts, "Verdi" Theatre of Pordenone, Municipal Theatre of Carpi, “Amici della musica” of Foligno, Cultural Association "Anna Rosa Taddei", “Amici della musica” “F. Fenaroli”, The Aquilana concert society “B. Barattelli”, “Nuova Consonanza”, Philharmonic Roman Academy, “Armonie della Sera” Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, “Brianza Classica”. It has also been working abroad with the Italian Cultural Institute of the city of São Paulo, Brazil and with the German society NetCologne.
Roma Tre Orchestra was admitted by the Ministry of Culture to the benefits for the live show of 2014 and from 2018 its activities are recognized from the Ministry of Culture as initiative of "national significance". It is subsidised by the FUS (Fund for the Performing Arts of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage) of Lazio and it is a member of the main national trade associations that work in the music and live-show industry, such as Cidim, Aiam, Mosaico Music – “Rete Associativa Italiana” (Roma Tre’s art director is also its president).

From 2010/2011 academic year Roma Tre Orchestra created a Laboratory of Musical Language especially for the students of Philosophy and Communication Sciences of University of Roma Tre..
