Valerio Vicari is an Italian arts administrator and artistic director.

Since 1 January 2026, he has served as Artistic Director of the Fondazione Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi di Trieste.

Since 2026, he has also been Artistic Director of the Riccardo Zandonai International Opera Competition in Riva del Garda and, since its establishment in 2025, Artistic Director of the Lazio Region Sacred Music Festival.

Since 2005, he has been Artistic Director of Roma Tre Orchestra. Under his artistic leadership, the organisation has become one of Italy's most active concert institutions, presenting more than 100 events each year throughout the country. Roma Tre Orchestra is supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture through the National Fund for the Performing Arts (FNSV), by the Lazio Region Performing Arts Fund, and has been awarded funding through numerous public calls promoted by the Municipality of Rome.

From December 2022 to October 2025, he served as Chair of the Music Committee of the PSMSAD Fund of the Italian National Social Security Institute (INPS). In 2023 and 2024, he was also a member of the Festivals, Choirs and Bands Committee of the Italian Ministry of Culture.

He has lectured for the Treccani Master's Programme in Performing Arts Management and for the Master's Programme in Music Management, Marketing and Media at Roma Tre University.

He studied Experimental Composition and Piano at the Santa Cecilia Conservatoire in Rome under Gian Paolo Chiti and Matteo D'Amico. He graduated with highest honours from Roma Tre University, earning degrees in Literature and Public Administration. Since 2006, he has been a member of the administrative staff of Roma Tre University, where he also coordinates the Musical Language Laboratory.

He is the author of Richard Wagner, the Dog and the Parrot. An Emotional Biography (ETS, 2024) and Stupor Mundi. A One-Act Television Drama (ETS, 2025). He also contributed, in English, several entries on medieval literature to the Encyclopedia of Italian Literary Studies, published by Routledge.
